  Fairly good dim sum but not very westerner friendly. In fact if you're not Chinese, it may be a bit daunting to order dim sum. Service was terrible as well with waitstaff that made you feel like they were just tolerating you. If you're not Chinese and you did not go with locals you might feel like you had landed on a different planet.

  Had a nice dinner here with our Vancouver friends and Toronto friends last evening. Service started from good to ok. The manager was nice and friendly, and treated us like VIPs. The other staff was just ok - wasn't what I would expect for Vancouver. Food came out in great order - had our appetizers first and they waited until we're finished with them before serving the main courses. The Peking duck was done really well, it was served on top of lobster crackers, which the kids absolutely enjoyed. The chicken was very tender and juicy - usually I'm not a big chicken fan, but these were very well done. We also had the ling cod and it was cooked very well too. All-in-all the food presentation and taste was very good. Price was on the expensive side, but you do pay what you get at this restaurant. Upon paying, we decide to split it 3 ways after factoring in 20% tips to about $56 per family. The staff came by, hesitated to do so, and mumbles how much it would be together if $56 x 3 cards. Comes across as questioning us if its enough. I quickly told him how much in total and guess he's very happy for such a generous tip. I was a bit appalled actually by his actions - perhaps he doesn't deserve that much.

  Note: I haven't eaten here for dinner yet. I went for dim sum: Decent food. I'm a Kirin regular and I was a little disappointed after some solid reviews here. It is, however, more affordable than the restaurant previously mentioned. Two stand outs for me were the shrimp dumplings and the BBQ pork in rice wrap. They were both delicious. Service wasn't great but pretty standard for dim sum places in Richmond.
